Social work, helping disabled and autism children in Hanoi

PROJECT SUMMARY

Phuc Tue care center offers care, education, career advice and vocational training for mentally and physically impaired children. Phuc Tue Center, based in Hanoi, was established on June 1st, 2001.

Their mission is to care for, educate, restore mental health, teach, and guide disabled individuals to enable them to find suitable jobs, build self-confidence and become more independent in their everyday lives. As they are absorbed into the community, their burden on their families in particular, and society as a whole, will diminish.
Besides early grade academic lessons, educational programs include physical education and therapy, yoga, painting and poetry.

Currently, the center has 80 disabled children and adults, aged between 2 and 22 years, and divided into four classes. Their disabilities include Down’s syndrome, cerebral palsy, autism, children who are victims of Agent Orange, and various other mental disorders. The number of children varies from time to time. • My experience with CVTD Vietnam was great ! Work with kids is really tiring and you have to keep your energy and enthusiasm all the time but when you see them smiling, having fun and the most important learning things from you it really worth it !

  • I had an amzing time!Definitely the place to volunteer if you are in vietnam!the girls who work there are superfriendly and make you feel at home in no time.

  • These have a great record of providing low- income families an opportunity to learn English. With so many NGOs to choose from in Vietnam, I found these follows its mission of wanting to make a difference and not skewing away from its original plan of helping others.

  • Thanks for the good wishes and your support during my stay-I'll definitly come back if i get the chance.

  • I stayed and worked here for several weeks and had a very fun and rewarding experience. The students are great. The staff is friendly and the food is good. You'll typically have roommates from Vietnam,...
